About the author


Russ Smith grew up near Detroit in the suburb of Grosse Pointe, and now lives part of the year in Benzie County, Michigan near the Village of Beulah. Arizona is his home for the rest of the year unless he's traveling somewhere looking for the next story. Russ has lived and worked in many parts of the United States as well as in many countries in Europe and Asia. Ocean liners and cruise ships, their history, and the people who work and travel on them have always intrigued Russ. Many of the characters in his  books are based on people who he's met while on a ship, or while traveling or working in various places around the world. Russ has a B.A. in Hotel & Restaurant Management from Michigan State University and he has earned MBA and M.Ed degrees from Arizona State University. Before he wrote mysteries, Russ worked in the semiconductor industry, holding various positions in organizational development, finance, and supply chain management.
