About the author
Antonio Stevenson was born in Albemarle, North Carolina in 1970. He attended Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools receiving his high school diploma from Carver High School in 1989. Stevenson obtained a political science degree from Winston-Salem State University in 1994, while excelling athletically on the football field. He received numerous accolades for his achievements as a standout athlete. Stevenson is a member of Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He is also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Antonio Stevenson is also among the elite eight named to be inducted into the Class of 2010 Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools Hall of Fame on May 7, 2010.
Antonio Stevenson lives in Clemmons, North Carolina, and is the proud father of three daughters. He is an active member of the community which has included volunteering for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program in Winston-Salem, NC for four years. In addition, he volunteers with many youth programs throughout Winston-Salem which consist of Bridging the Gap a Winston-Salem Urban League program, and works with Gang Intervention programs in Spencer, North Carolina to successfully negotiate a truce between rival gangs.
Mr. Stevenson is currently working with students in Winston-Salem, NC and Danville, VA and is a professional personal trainer specializing in working with teens at West Forsyth YMCA. Antonio's true passion for the past ten years has been mentoring and motivational speaking to have a positive impact on the lives of youth in the community. Mr. Stevenson worked from 1999-2004 as a mentor and motivational speaker with the Winston-Salem Urban League which allowed him to work with youth at numerous schools in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School system to address the dropout rate and set lifelong goals. Through his work as a Gear Up coordinator for Winston-Salem Forsyth County schools to promote at risk youth to set positive educational goals and set a one-way track to college, he created and founded My Brother's Second Chance Inc. in 2009. This program continues to contribute and have a positive impact and create positive outcomes in the lives of the youth in the community.
He has spoken throughout North Carolina as a motivational speaker sharing life experiences and speaking to youth about life long choices. These speaking engagements include the Future Young Black Leaders Symposium at Winston-Salem State University, Gear Up conferences, Bridging the Gap Workshops, The Right Choice group activities in Charlotte, and Winston-Salem, NC, the Urban League Job Fair and Flat Rock Middle School Winston-Salem, NC speaking to 6th and 7th graders about goal setting and positive life choices. Antonio Stevenson continues to be an advocate for keeping youth on the right path and facilitating second chances for at risk youth.
