Dive into a raw, artistic exploration of mental health, life's battles, and the resulting beauty thereof in this illustrated poetic medley's powerful prose and confident cadence.
POTENTIAL TRIGGER WARNINGS: anxiety, PTSD, abuse, self-harm
After years of various types of abuse and struggles with different mental illnesses, McKenna Hight began documenting her healing and spiritual journey in the form of poetry. Illustrated by Allison Gulley, Sublimity names the monsters under our beds for what they are while voicing the simultaneous (and bigger) promises and realities of truth, grace, and love that never give up on us. Growth and hope are the most painful things in the world, but the destinations are as real as the pain of the road, and words can begin to heal our wounds.
A long road, a background in rhetoric, a passion for music, and a love of people spurred McKenna Hight to use poetry as an outlet to express the history of her life and healing journey. A writer living in Atlanta with her cat, Belladonna, she wants to start a conversation about mental health and the goodness in the world.
