About the author
Carol Ann Waugh is an award-winning mixed media fiber artist. Her current work combines geometric and organic textures with layer upon layer of complex surface tension. It's about exploration where unexpected connections and juxtapositions can lead to new ideas and artistic expressions. Her intuitive process means not having complete control over the outcome of her work as she layers, creates each line, shape or pattern, adds or takes away color and stitch. Carol looks at creating art like living life, each decision made leads to a different future choice. It's the thread of life decisions that weave the individuality of artistic expression. Carol's fiber art has been juried and invited into more than 45 national and international exhibitions during the past four years. Her art has been featured in several books and magazines including 500 Art Quilts, 1,000 Artisan Textiles, A Fiber Artist's Guide to Color and Design, American Quilter Magazine, Quilter's Newsletter, SAQA Journal, Artscape Magazine, Machine Quilting Unlimited and Quilting Arts. She is a featured artist in Volume V of In Stitches Magazine and stars on The Quilt Show, Episode 1011. Her work has been purchased by major corporations and individual collectors and one of her pieces is archived in the permanent collection of the International Quilt Study Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She recently completed a large public art commission for the Eastside Human Services Building for the City of Denver. Carol ahs written five books on quilting and also finds the time to teach methods to quilters all over the world. Her online class is offered through Craftsy (craftsy.com) and her in-person classes are offered in Denver, Colorado, as well as through selected quilt guides.
