Overview
Standing in the Public Square: Faces of the 2012 Reason Rally is a pictorial remembrance of the largest gathering of atheists, agnostics, rationalists and skeptics in history. It took place on the Mall in Washington, D.C. in the rain. Neither attendance nor spirits were dampened by the weather. This is the story of that event in pictures enhanced with quotes from the speakers and performers.
Description
Standing in the Public Square: Faces of the 2012 Reason Rally is a pictorial remembrance of the largest gathering of atheists, agnostics, rationalists and skeptics in history. It took place on the Mall in Washington, D.C. in the rain. Neither attendance nor spirits were dampened by the weather. This is the story of that event in pictures enhanced with quotes from the speakers and performers. Ingrid Laas and Bruce Press were there as part of the community and as photographers driven to capture this historic event for posterity. This book is a family album, of sorts, for all the people that worked so hard to make this event happen, traveled so far to stand there in the rain and for all those who wanted to, but could not be there. The people on stage get their own celebration, this book celebrates those people who showed up and made their presence felt. "History is made by those who show up." -- Benjamin Disraeli, Former Prime Minister of England
About the author

Ingrid Laas cut her teeth on wedding photography, but is now seeking to apply her skills to promote science literacy, and a more rational and peaceful world. She is based in Madison, Wisconsin.

Bruce Press spent way too many years as a software engineer, but in that time he found his passions and raised a family. Now a photographer full time, he leans heavily on the support of his family and a love of creating.

Donna Mugavero, the book's designer, is the sole proprietor of Sheer Brick Studio, an award-winning design shop in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania which provides design services for clients of all sizes and concerns — national, regional, local.
