Spirit Chronicles: A Power Encounter

Have you, your child or someone you know ever struggled with fear in the middle of the night?

I did for many years. From about age 16 to 23, I had many nights with bad dreams, nightmares and would wake up in a cold sweat, heart beating out of my chest. Sometimes I even had difficulty breathing when I awoke feeling strangled or like thousand pound weights were on my chest. The fear in my room would be palpable; I was afraid.

In these times, I discovered a tool that would cut through the fear; through the panic and terror, like lightning exploding on a dark night.

Growing up I had been taught that the Bible said,” …he who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”  One night in desperation I tried it. I had awoken from a particularly bad dream; the room was under a blanket of fear and I was struggling to breathe. The words that came from my spirit out of my mouth were simple. I said,” Jesus is Lord.”

 What happened next dumbfounded me. Something immediately lifted off my chest and I could breathe. The thickness of fear in the room fled as I said it again even louder,” Jesus is Lord!”

This scenario repeated itself hundreds of times in various ways over the years until I was in my mid 20s and without fail I must tell you, there is authority in the name of Jesus over fear.  For the last 20 years, I’ve had almost no attacks of fear in the night in this way! Now as a father of four boys who have occasionally woken in the night afraid, I decided to write this book, Spirit Chronicles: A Power Encounter as a tool to help teach them in a creative way their authority over fear as believers in the name of Jesus.

I must tell you, it works. One night my five-year-old came into my room late to tell me he was afraid.  After reminding him of the story in Spirit Chronicles: A Power Encounter, we practiced it and together declared, “Jesus is Lord,” over his room, the darkness and his fear. He went back to bed happy, on his own and he slept fitfully through the night. It works.

Why does it work? It works because, “…there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which he must be saved.” It works because, “…at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord….”
