Overview
The fourth book of the well-received Speculative Japan series, and the first to be released in ebook format introduces new talents from Japan, and fresh new stories by some of the outstanding authors we've introduced to the English-speaking world already. From deep in the mountains of the Japanese countryside to the plains of frigid Pluto, from a warm South Pacific isle to a freezing mountainside, to Mars or inside a lonely psyche... a positive smorgasbord of speculative enjoyment, in English for the first time!

About the author
Born in Sapporo in 1956, ASAMATSU Ken (a pen name paying homage to author Arthur Machen) graduated from Tōyō University before joining publishing house Kokushokankōkai in 1981. While working with translated horror fiction, he produced numerous articles on Western magic, and in the process coined terms which are still used in Japanese novels and games today. Asamatsu debuted as a novelist in 1986 with Makyō no Gen'ei (Echoes of Ancient Cults), and has since produced a voluminous body of horror and adventure novels, in which esoteric Buddhism, Muromachi-era settings, and H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos often feature prominently. His Lovecraftian novel Queen of K'n-Yan is available in English.
