Description
The Ski Instructors Handbook - Teaching Tools and Techniques is a comprehensive resource for snowsports instructors and those interested in learning the sport. Whether working part time, seasonally or as a full time professional this ebook will assist instructors with their teaching career. No matter which system / nation you are qualified through the contents of this ebook will help you with your training and exams. The book has been cleverly divided into color coded sections; green, blue, red, black (similar to the color coding for ski runs in Europe) with additional stuff in the yellow section at the end. The idea is that each section builds in complexity starting with the basics of delivering a good lesson (green) and progressing through to Teaching Styles in a Snowsports Environment (black). The yellow section then includes useful extras like using video for coaching.
About the author

Andrew grew up in the North of England and at the age of 9 started skiing with his family. This passion for skiing developed and took him into competitive racing and later becoming a teacher and educator for the UK National Governing Bodies and National Training Award Bodies. Andrew attended Laurence Jackson Secondary School and studied Sports Coaching and Management Longlands College in the North of England. At college Andrew studied a range of sports gaining a knowledge and understanding of generic teaching tools and common learner issues. Racing for the British National Team took Andrew to many resorts around Europe, this gave him an insight into how different nations approached teaching their athletes & recreational clients. Skiing became his primary sport and in the mid 80’s he entered the BASI qualification system. With determination to reach his potential he progressed quickly through the system right through to being appointed as an Alpine examiner in 1990. Spending time in Vail in Colorado, USA is where Andrew’s teaching really took off, working alongside the American instructors and examiners for PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of American) he quickly entered the PSIA system and progressed to Full Cert. Back in Europe Andrew went into Race coaching and has been an Educator for NVQs, the National Governing Bodies and has remained an examiner for BASI. Outwith teaching Andrew is a consultant for constructing and managing snowsport centres. This book on Teaching Tools and Techniques is a true reflection of Andrew’s passion and enthusiasm for snowsports. Learn from the best, those who have reached the top in their profession! Andrew is currently Performance Director for the British Disabled Ski Team, he is also training & examining students at all levels and educating the Trainers for BASI. Most of the Winter season he works in his Ski School in Megeve, France & for Parallel Dreams Coaching.
