Overview
"SEALED" is a candid look at one girl's story of adoption trauma, resolved only by letting God into her life. After a closed adoption with no history of her past, author Kelli Taylor knows nothing of her life. This wound of disconnect leads to toxic marriages, a struggle with drugs, and spousal abuse. After one terrifying night, Kelli is nearly killed by her husband, but she is miraculously saved by God. Even though she does not know where she came from, she has found her place in the world. Her past may be sealed up tight in documents, but her future is now sealed in Christ.
Description
"SEALED" is a candid look at one girl's story of adoption trauma, resolved only by letting God into her life. After a closed adoption with no history of her past, author Kelli Taylor knows nothing of her life. This wound of detachment leads to toxic marriages, a struggle with drugs, and spousal abuse. This memoir offers an up-close look at the pain and rejection adoption can cause. In the early 1980s, when adoptions were typically closed, not much identifying information was given out and children were released to foster homes until their adoption placement. This can cause disconnect, attachment disorders, and feelings of rejection that can last into adulthood. After one terrifying night, Kelli is nearly killed by her husband, but she is miraculously saved by God. Even though she does not know where she came from, she has found her place in the world. Her past may be sealed up tight in documents, but her future is now sealed in Christ.
About the author
Kelli Taylor lives in the piney woods of deep East Texas, surrounded by cows, a couple of horses, a goat named Thunder, and a yellow lab who lives to fetch a frisbee. Together, she and her husband Larry share a beautiful and interesting blended family of six children—two grown, three at home, and one beautiful angel in heaven. She and Larry are also blessed with six grandchildren. Kelli enjoys being the hippest "Lolli" on the block! Kelli became a Certified Professional Women's Coach in 2016, specializing in women who have suffered adoption trauma, abuse, or abandonment issues. She also enjoys public speaking, hosting Christian women retreats, and being in the trenches with any broken women who need her. When she's not writing, you can find her homeschooling her 10-year-old son or cheering for her daughter on the volleyball or basketball court.
