Rugged Trumpet

RUGGED TRUMPET is a record of ballads and lyric poetry written across a period of six decades. These poems are crafted to be read aloud as word music. When one reads a poem out loud, it should come to life.

The title RUGGET TRUMPET comes from the last line of the final poem in this book. The ballad HUNTER'S HORN tells the story behind the horn depicted on the cover.

Born in Texas, Robert Bogan has spent most of his life in Austin. He taught foreign language (Latin, German, Greek, English) for more than three decades. His published work includes three books of poetry (Rugged Trumpet, Song of the Balcones, The Arsonist) and two music/poetry CDs (Song of the Balcones, Rugged Trumpet.) Bogan has also penned a pulp fiction series, The Buck Duran Mysteries.
