The topic of this book is the gift of hospitality as mentioned in the Bible. One chapter is devoted to examples of hospitality in scripture. The rest of the book contains light-hearted, sometimes comical advice from a seasoned hostess who draws from her years of experience. The end of the book features dozens of proven recipes from her kitchen.
The gift of hospitality is all about loving people in a practical way because it is saturated in sharing and bathed in benevolent giving. Simple gestures that convey thoughtfulness through low-key events in the home can forever endear those you invite to join you. Diane Ehrlich draws from her many years as a hostess and offers her light-hearted yet practical advice on home entertaining. She teaches from the Bible about the gift of hospitality and how she found a formula or "recipe" for sharing within the teachings of John the Baptist. Other topics include how to prepare for people coming into your home, meal planning, conversation and the lessons she learned from her whole house renovation. The last chapter features dozens of great recipes that she serves to her guests.
