Puratan Janam Sakhi

This is the first English translation of "Puratan Janam Sakhi ," first written nearly 100 years ago in 1926. Published originally in Punjabi, the book contains stories from the life of the Sikh's First Guru, Guru Nanak Dev ji (1469-1539). This groundbreaking book will give Sikh's living around the world, not all of whom speak Punjabi, the opportunity to learn about a central figure of the faith.

Bhai Vir Singh Ji (1871-1957) was a Poet, Scholar and a Theologian. He was a prominent figure in the movement for revival and renewal of Punjabi tradition. 

He wrote Puratan Janam Saakhi in 1926. This janam Saakhi was a combination of oral narrative of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's life and along with written traditions from mid to late 17th century. To that he added Verses from SGGS to make it whole and connect the narration with the Guru's Bani.
