Overview
Through the eyes of our friend, Nick, we learn his stories of growing up in the small town of Incline Village in Lake Tahoe. His struggle to discover personal identity through performance on the field, then foregoing the life of a professional athlete in exchange for establishing and running the only authentic pub in his hometown. From the hilarious to the heart-wrenching, these are the episodes of his life-altering losses and loves. Of his eventual journey to the distant land of Kathmandu to heal, to find center. But mostly, it's about the people, the relationships: his Dad, his lovers, his community, who led him to a higher Sierra--and more importantly, back down to reality.... "For it is nothing to be holy. Alone. Atop a mountain."

About the author
Having moved with his family from the Bay Area in 1977, Tofer has ever since been a native of Lake Tahoe, specifically—and he'll explain—of the North Shore, Nevada side.
