OUR WASHBOURNE FAMILY GENEAOLOGY describes the direct ancestoral line of C.E. Washburn going back to William Washburn, who immigrated to the New World from Bengeworth, England in the 1640s. He followed his older brother, John Washburn, who settled in Duxbury, Massachusetts in 1632. It is believed that all the Washburn families in the U.S. today are in some way descendanted from these two Washburn brothers. The Washbourne line descends back to Medieval England, beginning with the knight, Sir William de Washbourne, who was the son of Sampson and the first recorded tenants of Little Washbourne in Worcestershire, England. This period covers the late 1100s and early 1200s.
