My Mike

"My Mike" is about Marion Sieb Mahoney's childhood dog, Mike. Mike was immortalized in the 1930s after his photo inspired artist Adelaide Heibel to draw him for the 1939 Gerlach Barklow calendar. The cover drawing for "My Mike" also features the author's great grandson, who made a cute comment about doggie heaven. Mike has resided there for many years, but will forever live on in the pages of this book.

Marion Sieb Mahoney is an artist from Joliet IL, and this is her first published children's book. Marion has an art degree from St. Francis University, and took advanced art classes from the Art Institute in Chicago. In 2006, while attending school at the Art Institute, she entered The Hans Christian Andersen Award Jury of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) in Bologna, Italy. Marion lives in Plainfield IL, surrounded by family (near and far); 3 kids, 13 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. She is 95 years young.
