Overview
What on earth does it mean to be "manly" in the 21st century? Are male traits like courage and compassion simply the stuff of myth and old movies? Is it possible for a man these days to lead a happy, adventurous life without being a self-absorbed buffoon? Man Up In 10 Lessons provides witty, entertaining answers to these and other questions facing men ready to "man up" -- and the women who wish they would!
Description
There are literally thousands of books out there designed to help women become better... well, women. But what if you happen to be a man? What if you feel unsure these days what it actually means to be a man -- or if it's even possible to be "manly" without alienating half the human race in the process, and disappointing yourself as well? R.G. Morse -- author, mountaineer, translator, diplomat, publisher, artist, and musician -- has taken it upon himself to tackle these and other equally pressing questions facing the male of the species these days. Through chapters on topics such as courage, action, truth, happiness, passion, and style -- and with a bonus " (and quite funny) "afterthought" on sex -- Morse provides men with some solid tips and advice on how to lead a more fulfilling life, without giving up the essential attributes that make men... men. Wittily written in a lightly humorous, wry style, Man Up is the perfect anecdote to pompously self-important self-help tomes on one hand, and all those "modern men are ineffectual goofballs" movies and television series on the other. If you're a man looking to change your life, or a woman who knows a man who you wish would -- Man Up is a must read!
About the author
R.G. Morse is a Canadian author, publisher, artist, and musician. He abandoned work on his PhD thesis while at Oslo's International Peace Research Institute to begin a writing and publishing career that has now spanned over 30 years. At various times a Norwegian tutor, a Swedish liquor salesman, a Pakistani diplomat, an American mountaineering guide, and a Canadian academic, Morse has parlayed an unusually rich life experience into numerous books, including The Mountains of Canada, Oregon The Coast, The Naked Mountain, and most recently, Man Up In 10 Lessons. Currently working on two new novels, Morse lives in the tiny alpine village of Kaslo, British Columbia with his wife, Janet, and their fierce Australian Labradoodle, Scout.
