Luckiest Engineer Recommended by a friend. This book was a labor of love and 30 years of experience in the making. I'm not an engineer, but I truly enjoyed reading the journey from 'farm boy to skunk works and beyond'. I gained a glimpse into the personal life of the author and gained several pearls of wisdom along the way. (I have several passages and quotes highlighted) The title is misleading, luck had nothing to do with it, this book truly shows what hard work, dedication and passion can bring you. To anyone is an engineer, I'm sure you'll love it! To those who are not and want a few laughs and maybe a few pearls of wisdom for yourself, give it chance! Read more

Luckiest Engineer I enjoyed reading about the authors early years which gave insight into his character and natural curiosity. His strong family support provided the confidence he needed to achieve his goals. The authors career was very impressive and while some luck comes to us all, his talents and timing really paved his way. The book highlighted the lighter side of his personality in how he handled working in a high stress environment. I found the book to be a well written east read. I would have enjoyed reading more about the authors personal life and the effects of his career on family dynamics. Read more

Luckiest Engineer In his book, Bob Retsch skillfully describes how a farm boy ends up working on some of the greatest aerospace accomplishments in the last 40 years. He takes you on a journey through some historical programs that changed the world, and in layman’s terms describes how they were accomplished. He presents the steps taken, challenges, obstacles, setbacks, problems, and successes in creating aerospace hardware never even imagined before, and at the same time, you are treated to a rags to riches story with a great deal of humor injected along the way. The best part for me personally, it brought back many memories from my own past. Read more
