Leela and the Forest of Light is a fantasy adventure story based on Native American wisdom teachings that connect us to the natural world in a beautiful way. They honor all creatures and feel each animal offers a lesson. Hawk teaches Leela to see from a higher view. Mountain lion teaches her about leadership. Gray Wolf and her other animal allies test and teach her the skills she'll need to face the forces that want to stop the children of the new earth.

Leela never wanted to be adopted by the wealthy Rumsford family whose spoiled children make her life miserable. She feels utterly alone until a messenger from her future appears.

Raven, the bringer of magic, leads her into a mysterious forest to meet Fox, guardian of the world between worlds. He warns her that the animals, forests and oceans are in great danger because humans have forgotten their place in the circle of life.

But to fulfill the prophecy of the new earth, Leela must gather seven animal allies, shapeshift time and travel through a portal to receive the gift of far-seeing.

Can Leela face the dark forces that want to stop the new earth from rising? It's up to her to trust her heart and lead the way.

Lin Northrup, M.Ed., is a holistic educator and counselor. She taught gifted and talented programs in the public schools, designed arts programs for children and was an adjunct professor at a community college. Her writings and workshops explore meditation, creativity, nature and the path of the heart. She lives in a quiet corner of planet Earth with her rescue cat, Max.
