Overview

Gary Canig, a rogue CIA agent, uses an unwitting patient, Hal, to cause an Electro-Magnetic Pulse to destroy all computerized devices in Lake Placid, killing people using medication pumps. Hal becomes sicker until all the computerized equipment is removed from his ICU room. A couple from New York City try to escape from Gary and fall in love.

Can Demian Listing, Will Williams, Bennie Grimm and others solve the puzzle of the Electro-Magnetic Pulse before the damage it has caused becomes a spreading, world-wide disaster? Can they capture Canig before he can ruin anyone else's lives?

Description

This is the second in a series called: The Jay Mountain Healing Novels. Our group of characters include: Demian Listing, town philanthropist; Will Williams and Bennie Grimm, Military Academy graduates; Gunner, Marion, and Catherine, healers; and, new characters, Sarah and John.

Sarah and John are escaping from New York City. They are chased by Gary Canig, a rogue CIA agent. This agent has planned an Electro-Magnetic Pulse. It deploys and destroys Lake Placid via an unsuspecting patient, Hal. He is admitted to the ICU and his condition worsens.

Our characters watch with dread as the world is turned sideways. They must figure out the cause of the EMP before its spreading disaster becomes world wide. They must also try to help Hal recover before he dies from mysterious ailments.


On the Other Side of Death Mountain is the first published novel in the Jay Mountain Healing Novels series. It takes up where this novel leaves off with similar characters. The profits from the sale of the first book were donated to the ACUS Foundation. This foundation teaches military physicians to use acupuncture and related techniques to treat pain and other illnesses without medications. 

About the author

Douglass N. Powell, M.D. had a private practice of Ob/Gyn for 35 years. He founded and ran the Health and Healing Center in Syracuse, New York for 12 years. He became a Medical Acupuncturist and shifted his practice to Integrative Medicine for the last 10 years. He practices Reiki, Hypnosis, and Acupuncture. He teaches Medical Acupuncture with the Helms Medical Institute and the ACUS Foundation.

Dr. Powell spent his summers and falls hunting and repairing a small camp on Jay Mountain, outside Lake Placid, with his father and uncles. His love for the area and knowledge of the area include old tales told about the area, and long days of hunting and observing the land, animals and vegetation surrounding the camp.

He lives in Texas with his wife, having relocated from Central New York to be near his granddaughter. He shares his time between Texas, Lake Placid, and Maine.
