Knowing Self

Who are we, why am I here, and who am I, are all of life's most meaningful questions. Yet we hardly ever try to answer them, we've grown too attached to the materialistic world. As a society, we focus our energy on what everyone else is doing. We have grown to want the newest smartphone but refrain from wanting to understand ourselves. Knowing self is merely a tool to help assist those in their "me time" to explore the intelligence, resilience, and compassionate nature of our collective being. The passages are meant to broaden one's life perspective by welcoming an integrated reflection of conscious thoughts. This book welcomes the readers to be the co-author, as it unfolds as the literary work of the readers themselves.
Knowing self is an interactive book for those seeking a broader more open-minded experience. Through short stories, poetry, and thought-provoking passages, Knowing Self invites the reader to reflect on the larger questions in life. Then by adding their own thoughts to the book become apart of the larger conversation. Doing so, each book becomes a journal differing between each person, however still reveling the truest understanding of the collective consciousness shared between people. Knowing Self aims to shift the focus of today's mindset from needing a new smartphone to wanting to help a stranger.
About the author
Zachary Alden is a young author early in his career. His inspiration to write came from the life lessons acquired from his worldly travels. After spending several years in South East Asia as a United States Marine, he felt there was more work to be done for a better tomorrow. His writing focuses on the bigger picture for humanity while challenging the individual reader to turn inward through reflection. He truly believes that the pen is mightier than the sword and it's through his first book, Knowing Self, that he shares his first testament for a better tomorrow.
