About the author

Do you remember when you were young, and you were filled with dreams, hopes and aspirations? Every kid had a dream about what they wanted to be when they grew up. Some wanted to be astronauts, some firemen or policemen, others wanted to be professional athletes, and the list goes on from there. At some point though, the "growing up" occurs, and we start down paths we never knew existed when we were busy being kids. Scott, like so many of us, has had an interesting path through life, but one thing has always remained the same since he was young: his love of books and reading. Throughout his life, he has been able to see, experience and influence the direction and lives of many people, along with receiving equal amounts of guidance, mentorship and leadership. Along the way, his affinity for the water led him to compete as a college swimmer(5 years) and a college swim coach (20 years), while also serving and competing as a seasonal beach lifeguard (15 years). Out of the water, Scott attended UC Irvine, graduating with a degree in Social Ecology with a minor in English. After graduation, since he did not know what he wanted to do, he went to Law School, attending the University of Utah College of Law (now S.J. Quinney College of Law); yes, you can call him esquire, and no, he thankfully did not pass the bar. After graduating, he immediately made the best decision of his life, marrying Kristi, whom he met in his last year of college. In 2011, after building a successful business with Kristi, Scott was able to retire from coaching to help grow not only their business, but also their marriage and pour into their two sons. They have both taken the opportunity to be active in their church and their sons' school, where among many things Kristi is the head track coach and Scott announces sports throughout the year. Through all these life experiences, Scott has both knowingly and unknowingly been benefitting from the wisdom and advice of others, while also observing who people are and how they think and act. All of this time has led him back to what he dreamed of (and forgot) over 40 years ago in 1978 as a 5th grader; I think someday I might want to be a writer. After all this time, Scott has found his way back to what he dreamed of before he "grew up", and maybe you can too.
