About the author
Dr. Hamid has over 42 years of experience as a faculty member, a Professional Engineer and a consultant in the USA, Canada and the Middle East. He has served as a member of professional committees of the ACI, ASCE & ASTM. He is a Fellow of TMS. Dr. Hamid is the author or co-author of over 220 papers and technical reports on the behavior , design, and retrofit of concrete and masonry structures. He is a co-author of 6 masonry textbooks and 3 editions of an ebook on masonry building envelope. He has awarded over $3.0M funded masonry research from NSF, NRC, NEES, Penn-DOT, NSERC and other private and governmental organizations in North America. Dr. Hamid has introduced masonry courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels at Drexel University since 1983 and has conducted many seminars and short courses on engineered masonry in North America, South America, Europe and the Middle East. He was the Chairman of the Six North American Masonry Conference that was held at Drexel University in 1993. He has been working as a consultant and expert witness on many masonry investigations for private industry and government organizations. Dr. Hamid is a registered professional engineer in the US, Canada and Egypt.
