About the author
Robert M. Gullberg M.D., F.A.C.P., grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois. He was educated at Northwestern University with an undergraduate degree in inorganic Chemistry. He then attended the University of Illinois Medical School and graduated in 1981. He did his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Evanston Hospital, then affiliated with Northwestern University Medical School. He had excellent training there under the tutelage of Dr. Steven Kurtides, Chief of Medicine. That was followed by a Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois where he was mentored by Dr. John Phair. He has practiced Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases in a Community Hospital for almost three decades. During that time, he has helped train hundreds of medical students, PA students, and nursing students of all levels. He is a seasoned lecturer in clinical areas of Clinical Infectious Diseases, and he continues to teach principles of Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases on a daily basis. Because of his years of experience, Dr. Gullberg knows the best format for learning a core of Internal Medicine topics. He has been teaching physicians and mid level healthcare providers for the last twenty years. Bullet points are a very effective method. Dr. Gullberg has handpicked the most common topics for students to learn about. The book is a bottom line format, and will be a helpful tool for quick reference and learning. However, it is far from being a complete source. The resources for this text are too numerous to count, and many are the physicians and colleagues who have mentored Dr. Gullberg over the last 34 years. "A person should keep his little brain attic stocked with all the furniture that they are likely to use, and the rest they can put away in the lumber-room of their library where they can get it if they want it." –Sherlock Holmes
