Each is followed by a series of observations on how you can apply that "phrase" to your life in a very practical way. About the author
"Me? An alcoholic? Impossible!" I was a professional with three advanced degrees. Yet here I was on April 28, 2000 sitting in a room with fifty of those alcoholics and admitting for the first time that I was one of them. For years prior to that I had periodically tried to stop drinking without success. Something transformational occurred on that April morning. The obsession to drink was lifted and I haven't had a drink or a drug from that day onward. Since that time, Alcoholics Anonymous has provided me with a blueprint for life. Meetings have given me an opportunity for deep self-reflection. The Twelve Steps of AA has helped me to work on my character defects and admit when I'm wrong and make amends. I utilize prayer and meditation daily to connect to the God of my understanding. Fellowship means that help for any problem is only a phone call away. I truly am a grateful recovering alcoholic.
