Overview
It's the question asked by so many. How can I find happiness? How can I make my life more purposeful? How can I be successful? What do I need to do to get ahead? How can I make it? The answers to these questions are individual for each of us, but the good news is that the principles for gaining happiness and success have been explored and researched. There is now sound scientific evidence that certain formulas and recipes are guaranteed to bring about happiness and contentment. Furthermore, from the extensive experience of the clinical psychologist, there is a good deal of anecdotal evidence about what works and what doesn't in terms of increasing happiness. This book answers seeks to provide those answers about what brings about happiness and success.
Description
It's the question asked by so many. How can I find happiness? How can I make my life more purposeful? How can I be successful? What do I need to do to get ahead? How can I make it? The answers to these questions are individual for each of us, but the good news is that the principles for gaining happiness and success have been explored and researched. There is now sound scientific evidence that certain formulas and recipes are guaranteed to bring about happiness and contentment. Furthermore, from the extensive experience of the clinical psychologist, there is a good deal of anecdotal evidence about what works and what doesn't in terms of increasing happiness. The first chapter is about answering the question as to 'what is happiness?' Interestingly, there is a genetic component to happiness, but it is also up to us as to how we live life and how we approach life. The second chapter is about dealing with the past. How can we go forward in life if we are carrying baggage from the past that is weighing us down. The third chapter is about dealing with the present and living in the now. So often we tend to be looking back to the past or trying to anticipate the future that we forget to live in the moment and experience what is. The fourth chapter is about dealing with the future. How do we set ourselves up for success as we move forward? The fifth chapter is about managing time effectively. So many of us say that we are 'time poor' or that we 'never have enough time.' Successful people however, are effective in managing their time and setting priorities. Chapter six is an examination of the six basic needs that determine how we behave and act. Each of these needs though can be satisfied in negative or positive ways. Learning how to satisfying them in productive ways leads to a life of greater happiness. Chapter seven give practical tips on coping with life. Chapter eight provides psychological tips on being successful and ensuring that you make the most of life. The final chapter offers a challenge to make your life worth living; afterall, it's the only life that you've got! This book answers seeks to provide answers about what brings about happiness and success.
