The images give a visual description of what life is like on the island including the famous pony swim, the carnival, simple pastimes as well as the beautiful wildlife and fauna surrounding the area. In addition to the images, a short poem describes a tale of how and why the ponies came to be in Chincoteague and why they are so important to the existence of the island.

About the author


Madeline Giardina received her BFA from Tyler School of Art, Temple University. She has also attended California College of Arts and Crafts and Rowan University in addition to graduate studies at Seton Hall University. She currently teaches art in Philadelphia to students K-8 as well as an adjunct professor of digital photography at Atlantic Cape Community College in Mays Landing, NJ.
