Professor Gary Solomon is retired tenured psychology professor. He has compiled his lectures from his enlightening video HOA Academy (hoaacademy.com) in an innovative book entitled HOA Academy. In this book he cites the detrimental effects of living in Homeowners Associations (HOAs). The book has been written to help solve HOA problems and issues the reader and/or viewer may have. About five years ago the Professor noticed problems within HOAs. Over time he realized HOAs where causing an enormous amount of stress, strain and health problems for homeowners living in a HOA. He later learned that what was taking place in his neighborhood was boiling over throughout America. Professor Solomon began his work looking at the psychiatric effects HOAs have on their residents. He then turned his attention to the businesses, Management Companies, Collection Companies and HOA Attorneys that support HOAs, and the negative impact they have on homeowners living in a HOA. He addressed the political aspects of HOAs. Ultimately, he investigated and researched the science behind the harassment and abuse by the HOA Board Members, Management Companies, Collection Companies and HOA Attorneys. Professor Solomon is the first to connect the scientific research regarding stress to the who, what, why, and how of HOA harassment and abuse. What the reader and viewer will get from HOA Academy, is an educational insight into the true workings of HOA communities. HOA Academy confronts the issues related to HOAs with a combination of lectures, scientific research, terms, concepts, and possible solutions to the HOA crisis, along with written and downloadable text. In this book Professor Solomon explains why local, state, national government, police, and the legal system does not want to interfere in HOA business. Documented are the horrific atrocities that have been perpetrated by HOAs, including; elder abuse, stress induced illnesses, problems within families, financial abuse, foreclosures, violence, and even murders. After years of observing and speaking with homeowners who had been harassed and abused by their HOA, Professor Solomon fathered, defined and popularized HOA Syndrome, a psychiatric Anxiety Disorder with symptoms similar to PTSD and based in longitudinal stress. HOA Syndrome is characterized by a cluster of signs and symptoms–psychophysiological indicators–such as: Anger; fatigue; anxiety; depression, to name a few-and- emotional, psychological and physical illnesses. Professor Solomon refuses to produce income from his investigations, research and publications. He wants no claim by anyone saying that he produced income off the backs of unconscionable tragedies inflicted by HOAs. Professor Gary Solomon is a retired tenured Professor of Psychology. He has a BA in Psychology, MPH in Public Health, MSW in Social Work, Ph.D.in Psychology, and a Ph.D.in Social Work (abd). Professor Solomon fathered, defined and popularized Cinematherapy®, a form of therapy using movies for their therapeutic messages. Reel Therapy® is Professor Solomon's second book on the subject of Cinematherapy®. His third book is entitled Cinemaparenting®.
