Description
This album brings together some of Lee Evans's favorite classical works, music that has touched his emotions deeply. Included are some of the most beloved piano miniatures of Edvard Grieg as well as some less know works of both Grieg and Reinhold Gliere. Two of the works are piano transcriptions of orchestral works, and the other five are original piano compositions. In several places in the music, the arranger has added "modest hints of jazz," consistent with his long-time proclivity to provide a fresh perspective of established classical literature. Examples of this inclination for jazz enrichment may be found in some of his previously published books, such as Classics With a Touch of Jazz, Opera With a Touch of Jazz, Jazz Baroque:Vivaldi/Bach, and Enchanting Piano Music of Anatoly Lyadov.
