Overview
Gettysburg is a paradox: Now still, beautiful, and filled with visitors, this national military park serves as a powerful reminder of the clash of armies and the ferocious battles that were fought here nearly 150 years ago. Gettysburg: This Hallowed Ground explores the battleground through the contemporary photographs of National Merlt Awarded-winning photographer Chris Heisey and the poems of noted Civil War author Kent Gramm. This unique combination of pictures and words delivers a powerful emotional impact that links soldiers and their famalies with the toll of war in every age. A brief synopsis of the Battle of Gettysburg and a map of the battlefield introduce the book. Gettysburg: This Hallowed Ground is a dramatic tribute to the soldiers who fought here and to the military park that enshrines their heroism and sacrifice.
