Français aux Anglophones uses a hybrid effective and widespread pedagogical Grammar-Based Teaching (GBT) approach plus a Communicative Language Teaching approach to language learning, which emphasizes the importance of understanding grammar concepts of a language and the conceptual awareness of language structures as sure and proven paths to acquiring a foreign language, not only for non-native speakers but also for native speakers. The methodology is as follows:

1.      State the measurable learning objective for the French lesson.

2.      Introduce the vocabulary that go with the lesson.

3.      Highlight and explain the grammar topics that appear in the lesson.

4.      Test students’ understanding with a short classwork based on the taught concept.

5.      Listening activity will come with the Professor reading essential portions and vocabulary of the lesson for students to listen and repeat.

6.      Speaking skills of students’ will be developed progressively by a random call on students to read portions of the lesson text.

7.      Reading skills of students’ will be developed progressively by a random call on students to read portions of the lesson text.

8.      Students’ French pronunciations will be corrected during or after the reading.

9.      Students will start with writing short French phrases to sentences to paragraphs in order to develop their writing skills.

To the French Teacher who is considering this book as a course textbook, your effort at instructional delivery is less because the very paragraphs at the beginning of each chapter/concept are your instructional delivery text, either for students to read prior to the class or in class in order to understand the French concept that is being taught.

Français aux Anglophones – French for English Speakers is a sustainable language-learning textbook experience written for University Students at levels 100, 200, and beyond. It is a dual-language French-English textbook for English speakers who are learning French as a foreign language, as well as for Francophiles (non-French speakers who admire and identify with French language and culture). While the well-constructed sentences, paragraphs, identification of main ideas, flow, sequence of ideas, and the emphasis on French grammar used in this book will help students to improve their argumentative and expository writing skills, Français aux Anglophones also responds to the following requirements: One simple French theme or concept; Teachable in a single 50-minute or 1 hour 15 minute segment; with a Majority of 15-20 persons in the class fully participating and completing a relevant classwork for a continuous assessment grade/score; In face-to-face class meetings of about 40 sessions per 16-week semester University schedule.
