Favored Furry Blessings

NEIKA: This story describes her transformation from a cute kitten, to a large, independent, unfriendly cat with a personality of the wild within, and a very adventurous indoor and outdoor life, into the affectionate, purring bundle of love in my arms. BISCUIT: An extraordinary, beautiful, highly intelligent dog with a compilation of traits that made him somewhat difficult to live with, and impossible to live without, but in the end a blessing to be remembered. APACHE: This story is not about his painful beginning or his tragic ending, but more about how the devotion of a twelve-year-old boy infused a life well lived in this precious dog.

I was blessed with three unusual and memorable pets whose stories must be shared. Initially, I just wanted to put these stories together in a book to present to my son and my daughter for Christmas this year, but after spending so much time writing about them, I believe there is a market for these experiences with other animal lovers. NEIKA was given to us as a kitten to solve a mouse problem and we all just fell in love with her. She grew into a very large grey stripped cat with a beautiful face of a tiger, and a personality to match, but we loved her so. And BISCUIT -a beauty- was highly aggressive and intelligent and could be destructive and vicious, while also being loveable and loyal, gave us the greatest gift ever. And APACHE was a happy, perceptive and insightful dog, who not only gave me and the kids much love, but his love and caring extended well beyond our little home.
