Overview
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE (EQ) is a person’s ability to recognize one’s own emotions and the emotions of others, and to respond to those emotions in a healthy way. Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is the key to emotional health and well being at any age. A high EQ adolescent has more friends, higher grades, less drama, can set goals, and strive to achieve them. A high EQ adolescent makes better decisions when he/she is with his/her peers. An adolescent with a high EQ is more respectful to parents in the best and worst of times. In EQ and Your Adolescent, renowned author and licensed family therapist, Eileen Healy, shares over sixty simple, easy EQ SkillBuilders she uses with adolescents every week in her office to increase their EQ. These EQ SkillBuilders are simple for parents (grandparents/teachers) to implement and are proven to increase an adolescent’s emotional intelligence. Every parent of an eleven- through fifteen-year-old or soon-to-be adolescent NEEDS to read this book. It will help guarantee that your relationship will still be healthy when your son or daughter comes out of adolescence. In fact, if you implement Eileen’s EQ SkillBuilders with your adolescent, you can look forward to sharing a wonderful friendship when your adolescent emerges into adulthood. “Every parent needs to read this book as their son or daughter begins their journey into adolescence or at any time during adolescence. It helps parents understand if their adolescent’s behavior falls within the range of “normal.” EQ and Your Adolescent offers parents clear insights into their adolescent’s world. It definitely helps parents avoid the traps which other parents fall into that hurt or damage their relationships with their son or daughter. I cannot imagine not having EQ and Your Adolescent as my “How To Book” with our son or daughter.” —Dr. Pamela Sudano-Ruegg, mother of two teenagers
