Marianne Peters has been writing since she could hold a #2 pencil. In 1997, she established her company Fresh Words (formerly Wordsmith Writing Services) to provide writing and editing services for individuals, businesses and nonprofits. She served clients and editors by providing creative content for print and the Web, including articles, reviews, public relations pieces, and advertising. Marianne holds a Masters in English from Butler University. Her work appeared regularly in BookPage, The Covenant Companion magazine, the Seedstock.com blog, the Plymouth Pilot News, and regional parenting magazines all over the country.
In 2014, Marianne changed careers and now serves as the executive director for the Marshall County Solid Waste Management District, managing the recycling and household hazardous waste collection facility in her rural county. Her specialty continues to be equipping people to live greener, more sustainable lives. A Purdue-certified master gardener, she writes a columns about green living, hosts a quarterly radio program on gardening and sustainability, and frequently speaks to groups on environmental topics.
A fifth-generation Hoosier, Marianne lives in a small city in rural northern Indiana with her husband. They have two grown daughters. After fifteen years of cul-de- sac living, they gave away three-quarters of their possessions and relocated to a historic house downtown. Marianne is now hard at work designing an organic urban garden. When she has a free moment, she likes to sneak outside to pull weeds.
