Overview
Daedae is the story of a doll who leaves his home to go explore the world after his owner grows up. In Ireland, he meets a red squirrel who dreams of going to a beach called Sandycove, and an outcast blackbird who wants to meet others like him in Kilkenny. The trio travels together and forges an unlikely friendship.

Description
Author and Illustrator Sam Hansen was inspired while traveling in Ireland to write Daedae and based the characters on childhood toys and real-life animals. Sam's illustrations are influenced by a range of styles from manga to classic Hollywood animation. For Daedae he chose a simple visual style similar to the children's books of Raymond Briggs. The pages are illustrated and colored by hand.

About the author
Sam Hansen was born in the year 2000 in Seattle, WA where he still lives
today. He is autistic and a natural storyteller who constructed elaborate
scenes with toys before he could talk. Sam began illustrating his stories as
a high-schooler but continues to use video and stop-action animation for
projects as well. His YouTube Channel S.H.P.A.S. Studios has 2 million
views since it launched in 2014. When not creating or working, Sam
enjoys hiking, movies, and researching his interests.
