Bittersweet is a vulnerable photographic journey documenting the painful and uplifting process of losing and rebuilding a woman's breasts written and experienced by Holly K. Thrasher, a wife, mother, and breast cancer survivor. Holly thought she had lost her purpose, but found her true calling in the support and honor of women with breast cancer.

Five days before Holly Thrasher lost both breasts to a double mastectomy, her husband, Wiley, suggested they document the journey with photos. The very vulnerable breast photos show the transformation of her breasts from double mastectomy, through breast reconstruction, and ultimately healing and empowering her as a breast cancer survivor. Bittersweet demystifies and eliminates the fear of losing your breasts and life to cancer with before and after photos and everything in between. Holly K. Thrasher thought she had found her purpose when she opened her nostalgic candy store in Ojai, CA in 2010. Providing sweet treats and creating joyful memories for her customers was her childhood dream and she was fulfilling it daily at Kingston's Candy Co. Six years into her sweet life as the local "Candy Lady" a breast cancer diagnosis turned her world upside down and temporarily changed her life from sweet to bitter. The experience transformed her body, her life, and changed the trajectory of her dreams. Holly thought she had lost her purpose when she closed her business to focus on breast cancer treatment, but she found her true calling by sharing her very personal photographs of her healing process. Holly lives in the California desert with her husband, Wiley, and their son, Vance.
