Overview
This book is about a ordinary man accomplishing extra ordinary things. Rodney Darrel Williams is not unlike most of us, he had a tough start in life, but somehow through hard times, heart breaks, and devastating losses he had an adventurous life that led to him becoming a multi-millionaire.
Description
This book came about through a relationship between the Author, 73 yr. old Strike Franklin and 97 yr. old Rodney Darrel Williams. Over a decade of friendship, the Author developed the belief that the life's story of Mr. Williams needed to be told, and he needed to be the one who told it. The friendship came about, because the Author is married to Mr. William's niece. Mr. Williams is a very down to earth, passive man, who after all he has been through & endured, he enjoys every day, which he does not take for granted that he will be here the next day. He enjoys most of his days looking out a window to the beauties that nature presents. Although he has a caretaker, he takes pride in doing most things without help. The Author has offered many times to drive him to Texas to visit family, but he does not want to go unless he can drive himself. It sounds like he is hardheaded, but I believe it is Pride. He does not want to be a burden on anyone. This book exposes what can happen when common sense, doing the right thing, and belief in oneself collide.
About the author
73 yr old educator, retired twice, but back working at the Denton County Sheriff's Office as the Education Coordinator. I have three beautiful daughter's (Jennifer Leigh, Stacy Lynn, & Carrie Deon) by my first wife (Carolyn), who passed away at the age of 58 yrs old in 2008. Remarried to Rita Kathryn (Kate). I have 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons, and Kate has 5 grandchildren. I have a 95 yr old Father (George), who I see after and enjoy every minute of it. I grew up in Kemp Texas, and have been living in the North Texas area the past 30 years. Actually I live in a small community called Bolivar, where I own some acreage, that I have 8 head of cows on. I have one brother (Archie Perry), a sister (Georgia) deceased since 1998, and many niece's & nephew's. At our house there is: me, Kate, my Dad (George), our dog (Sky), 4 cats, and 8 cows I already mentioned. I am a Veteran and my Dad is a WWII Veteran. I have been in education for over 40 yrs., taught at Elementary, Junior High, High School, Military, Juvenile Prison, Adult Probation, Adult Jail Inmates, and at the University of North Texas. I really enjoying helping Inmates obtain a GED Diploma. They are in Jail, but I try to make their achievement as special as possible! While I was in public education, I served as a Teacher, Coach, Bus Driver, Principal, and a Superintendent (for 16 yrs.). I enjoyed Coaching the most, the interaction, the closeness, seeing the progress the Athlete's make in the maturing process is awesome.
