Overview
More than 50 years in the future America is in a frightening place due to the rapid pace of unfettered technological innovation. There are very few careers and even the birth of new stars of film and music industries have been suppressed by the creation of humanoid replica versions of past icons. The HARE Corporation (Humanoids, Automation, and Robotics Engineering) is the largest company in the world, and its two founders Joe Ritchie and Ian Ramsey have recently undergone a split, landing them on opposite sides of the recently divided America. The country is so divided, in fact, that a virtual wall has been created to separate the poor residents of the Hope zone with the wealthy Harmonians in the Harmony zone. The division is based on who needs government financial assistance from Government Approved Payments (GAP). Ian Ramsey feels responsible for creating the crisis and has established a movement to reunite America in fairness again. Ramsey, as he's called, has the means and the technology to fund this movement, and has established a council of mostly ordinary Hope residents to lead the revolt. Meanwhile, Jack Ritchie has moved on to focus on gene altering human life extension therapies that will only be available to the wealthy Harmonians. As Hope residents struggle for survival, the Harmonians enjoy a peaceful theme park like existence while chasing immortality. The Federal government has sided with Harmony because all politicians have become essentially puppets of the wealthy due to bribery in one form or another. Harmonian peace is interrupted when Ramsey's group strikes first to get the people of Hope to wake up and realize their dire circumstances and non-existent futures. On America's Tri-centennial with the future backdrop of flying cars, robotic soldiers, and humanoids, a battle begins between the two sides which threatens the future of all Americans regardless of their social class.
