Description
Being a woman is a complex, multidimensional identity in contemporary American culture, producing varying perspectives on what it means to be educated, feminine, and successful. Angry Young Women considers the relationships between women of differing generations and how societal expectations impact their ability to understand one another. Abandoning the outdated notion that women are bred for a secondary success to men, it is younger women who have the power to radically alter the pace of society. Released in January 2015, Angry Young Women is Katlin Sweeney's second novel that explores women's issues in a way that applies to both men and women. Both books look at problems that women face on a daily basis and how they also impact men, encouraging readers to reconsider their understanding of gendered issues.
About the author
Katlin Sweeney is a best selling author and freelance writer. Her work mainly focuses on how society shapes the modern, coming-of-age woman, the experiences that unite and divide people, as well as miscellaneous aspects of women’s rights. Her first book, The Bench Sitter, focuses on how competitive athletics shape the way individuals perceive their self-worth and the world around them. It positions the question of where athletes should go when their time on the court is over. Her second book, Angry Young Women, explores the dimensions of womanhood through the eyes of a woman in her twenties. It depicts how women of different backgrounds consider their identities through contrasting perspectives, and asserts that younger women are underrepresented in women's literature, but the strongest voices for change. Katlin is a lecturer as well. She has been asked to speak in various classrooms about how writers can prosper in the digital era, the writing process, and how to find success as a published writer.
