"A Voice from Norway" is a dual language poetry book written side by side in Norwegian and English. Author Ottar Løvoll was born and grew up on a small mountain farm in the western part of Norway. Many of the poems are inspired by life on the farm, the fjords and surrounding mountains, and the duality of nature and our emotions. The adjoining photos were taken in the Ørsta community, where both Løvoll and the photographer, Grethe Bjørdalsbakke, live today.
Description
The lyrics in The Voice from Norway surrounds the many daily chores on a small mountain farm where the author grew up. They address the the various farm tools and how they are used. The lyrics also venture into the life in the Old Town , sorrow and joy, glory and what the eyes may see during the seasons of the year on the mountains , by the the rivers and the ocean. The lyrics explore rivalry between the sun and the moon and venture into love and jealousy.
About the author
The author of the poetry was born and grew up on a small mountain farm in the western part of Norway. Many of the lyrics are inspired by the life on the farm and the nature of the fjords and mountains around that also includes the effect on people in their social rural setting. The photos are from the Ørsta community where both the author and the photographer live today.
