About The Author


Gary has been integrally involved in the soccer's commercial explosion in the USA since 1990. As President and CEO of API Soccer and then a Managing Director at global sports marketing agency Octagon, he was responsible for representing the marketing and commercial rights for the United States Soccer Federation and the United States Youth Soccer Association. His Company was also a founding member of Major League Soccer as the owner of DC United. As a Consultant to many soccer properties, he was responsible for the international development of Manchester City in the USA, organizing two successful Tours as well as building eight soccer fields in underserved communities across the US in partnership with the Embassy of the UAE in Washington, DC

In the early '90s, Gary also launched America's first-ever full-color soccer magazine, Soccer International,  produced the game-day programs for the USA Team in their buildup to the World Cup '94, and once held the USA TV rights to the English Premier League. He has also consulted with investors looking to acquire soccer clubs, both in the USA and internationally. 

Gary holds an MBA from Warwick Business School in the UK, and this is his second book on the business of soccer in the USA, following the release of Star Spangled Soccer in 2010.
