In 2007, the Five Star DXers Association, FSDXA, organized a large DXpedition to St. Brandon Island in the Indian Ocean. This DXpedition still rates as the most successful ever in terms of the number of contacts during an absolute sunspot minimum. The call sign, 3B7C, was for three intense weeks in September 2007, synonymous with global fellowship and heartfelt joy that is so typical among large numbers of ham radio operators all over the world, as they shared the best hobby of them all – amateur radio.

The call sign, 3B7C, was for three intense weeks in September 2007, synonymous with global fellowship and heartfelt joy that is so typical among large numbers of ham radio operators all over the world, as they shared the best hobby of them all – amateur radio. 3B7C is primarily a photo book based on the documentary tradition within photography. The author, Pete Arninge (SM5GMZ), has been working as a journalist for more than 30 years, with 15 of those years devoted entirely to photojournalism. It is also a book filled with personal reflections and observations, showcasing what amateur radio really is all about as it erases borders and puts prejudices and preconceptions aside. The 3B7C team of 20 operators, from a variety of countries, succeeded in getting 137,500 QSOs into their log. This is the story about how it was done. A MUST FOR THE SHELF! Peppe Arninge started out as a reporter in the early 1980s, working for a variety of newspapers and magazines as well as for Swedish commercial radio. In early 1990s he changed path and has been working as a freelance photographer in general and since 1998 on contract with TT Sweden (AP, AFP, Reuters, DPA and Corbis). He also worked under contract with New York-based picture agency WpN between 2005 and 2009. Based in both Scandinavia and South East Asia, his single pictures and photographic stories have regularly been published in almost every newspaper in Scandinavia. His work has also appeared in a variety of international publications such as The Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Mauritius Times, Helsinkin Sanomaat, Bangkok Post, Focus, Sacramento Bee, L’Espresso and Days Japan. The Swedish government, county councils, publishing houses, advertising agencies, commercial buyers and a wide range of web-based news providers and televison stations have showcased his images. His work has also been exhibited at art museums in Sweden and at European photo galleries. He is a graduate of the University of Stockholm and holds degrees from Berghs School of Communications and the Swedish Institute of Film.
