This is a true story as told to the author by the person who lived it, who has the same first name as the author. It is about events during a two year period of the storyteller’s life when he was 16 and 17 years old. Every word of this story is true including names where they can be remembered. For people who could be still alive and might not like to be known by some of the contents of the story, only first names are used. For those that are either dead or that the storyteller just doesn’t give a damn about, full names are used wherever possible. By reading this book you will get first-hand accounts of craziness, adventure, horrible violence, drug use and crime.

17 is a biographical account of two years in the life, ages 16 and 17, of an Oklahoma boy starting out as a completely innocent youth and transforming into one of the wildest street running, vagabond traveling, drug using, crime committing, womanizing, crazy people imaginable. People who grew up in the 60s and 70s will recognize a lot of the activities and parts of life described, but few will have experienced them to the extent that the subject of this book did.

David Ferree has led an unusually adventurous life and has overcome some seemingly insurmountable obstacles, so much so that many of his friends have told him he should write books. That, coupled with his unique writing style, makes for some truly engaging and entertaining reading.
