The book outlines risk factors and presents some strategies that can be developed to prepare a person for the courtroom. It looks at the importance of providing support during court testimony, not only to the public safety personnel member who is testifying, but also to their family before, during and after giving testimony. The book also provides information about what treatment and support may be needed for public safety personnel throughout the court process and how public safety organizations can best support a member when they are facing charges themselves. About The Author


Syd Gravel, one of this book's authors, who is often referred to as the grandfather of peer support in Canada. Syd Gravel and Ottawa psychologist, Dr. Pierre Turgeon, formed a support team that served police members in Ottawa and beyond who were shot, shot at, or who were themselves shooters in fatal and near-fatal incidents.
