About The Author


Renee Mattson, Ph.D. is a former clinical professor of special education at Miami University and Xavier University in Ohio and currently is the coordinator of the Ohio Partnership for Excellence in Paraprofessional Preparation, a statewide grant-funded project supporting inclusive school settings. A graduate of Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati, her research focus is on collaboration skills for special educators as they share best practices with the paraprofessionals and parents that love and support children with specific needs  She is the founder of Child in Bloom Parent and Educational Coaching and has supported more than a thousand families across the country helping them gain skills to support parenting their child through the growing years. She also has coached in hundreds of educational settings preparing new and veteran educators to support the children who enter their classrooms with positive, responsive, and differentiated approaches so all kids can fully participate. Dr. Mattson gives presentational addresses at conferences, training workshops, and retreats for parents and educators. Renee and her best friend and parenting partner and husband Toby live in Cincinnati, Ohio where they have raised three thriving kids who are now grown—Evy, Mick, and Peter. Renee and Toby love when all their kids are home and under one roof.  Despite her busy life, she regularly carves out quiet time to read, write, and spend time in prayer and loves to take sunrise morning walks and spend time with her closest longtime friends.
