About the author
Samantha Sheridan found her love for the outdoors and horses growing up on a farm. Samantha remembers the stories of being watched over by an older Indian chief in the Colorado onion and sugar beet fields, with her brother. At the age of six, the family moved from Colorado back to her grandparent’s farm in West Central Ohio and at seven years old her father bought her a dapple gray pony. Mack was part of her life until she moved up to riding horses. Samantha rode her friend’s horse, granddaughter of Sea Biscuit, and other horses around the farmland in Ohio with her friend, continuing her love of horses. Through high school and college, Samantha found communications was a talent she excelled at. With a major in communications at Wright State University, Samantha became an on-air radio personality and then moved to editor for one of the local newspapers, where Sheridan found her love of writing. A Silver Heart was created with Samantha’s love of horses and her dream of having a public relations job. At the time Samantha was writing the book she was also a 4-H horse advisor, so several of her 4-H members are used in the book. Pete Oen was just starting out as a horse trainer in the 90’s and is one of the biggest barrel horse trainers in the United States now. Samantha used Pete in her book as one of the trainers and she continues to work with him today with his marketing and promotions.
On the cover of The Silver Heart is Sheridan's daughter and her Quarter Horse, Shesa Two Timin Date. "Missy", as she was called by all, lived on their farm until she passed away. Missy did give birth to a foal, Rowdy's Rappin Bar, a black gelding who was loved by the family and started out his career of showing at his mother's side.
Still living in rural Ohio Samantha continues her writing and promoting her books. Life experiences are adding to the notebooks for future books. Samantha is working on her next book and it will be something the readers will love.
